This past week I haven’t been listening to a whole lot of new music, but just yesterday I came across something new that I think I’ll grow to like more. Overall, it’s been pretty much the same music but I’ve especially been listening to a lot of Tool. For some reason this past week I’ve been listening to them more than usual, and it’s one of those situations where you can’t get sick of the song even if you heard it several times.
Beginning with the new music, (new to me), Gojira is a progressive metal band that I just started listening to yesterday. I like the fact that this song is primarily built up of instrumentals - it’s something different from what I usually listen to. I also wouldn’t consider progressive metal my favorite subgenre of metal, but it’s definitely something I really like and I find this song in particular to be interesting.
Lately, if I wasn’t listening to this song, I was either playing that awesome bass line, or it was stuck in my head. Not sure why that is, but for some reason it’s just been on my mind a lot. (I even got my little sister to like it. Not sure if that’s good or bad but it’s up for debate.)
I’m looking forward to listening more of Gojira since I think I’ll be able to get into them pretty quickly, but I also don’t want to be too distracted. Sometimes I find listening to the same music helps me stay focused because I can let it play in the background without paying too much attention. Either way, both of these bands are great. I can hear some connections between the two and I find that to be interesting. There’s so much to be discovered about music relating to our personalities, it's really fascinating to think about.
