What I'm Listening To (Part 5)

Pause what you’re doing because something insane happened this past week and my whole world’s been turned upside down. I don’t know how it took so long for me to hear about this band. John Moyer (Disturbed), Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), Bumblefoot (Guns ‘N Roses) and Scott Stapp (Creed) - what the heck? How did this slip past me?
Scott Stapp is one of the few musicians that my Dad and I both like. Creed is my Dad’s favorite band so I grew up listening to them a lot, and we both love him. The other night we were wondering his age so we looked him up, but then we saw he’s in another band called “Art of Anarchy”. We thought that was a funny coincidence since we’re both anarcho-libertarians (even if it’s not the same kind of “anarchy”). Nevertheless, we were both shocked. I was even more shocked when he told me the names of the other band members.

We agree they’re not as good as we hoped, but I still enjoy them. Plus, Scott Stapp will always have a special place in my heart.
#1 - "The Madness"

This is their most popular song and I really enjoy it. I think overall they do a good job of pulling this off because generally when musicians from different bands team up, it can be risky. Even if they’re some of the greatest musicians, you get so used to doing one thing that working together can be a challenge. But, they did a good job and this is probably their best song.
#2 - "No Surrender"

I love the lyrics to this song. It's speaking from the place when you feel like you have "no way out" and it's a matter of choice. I love that. That's something I write about a lot on this blog and this song does a great job describing that moment.
Overall they're not as amazing as I'd hoped, but again, I still enjoy them. Apparently there’s some drama within the band and Scott Stapp wasn’t “doing his part”. I don’t know the details, and honestly I couldn’t care less. I tend to laugh when there’s drama in bands because music is essentially their job - why should they treat it different than another job? Either way, that’s what I’ve been listening to this past week and hopefully you enjoyed listening too!
