I have to be honest, I wasn't paying any attention to the lyrics until today. However, I'm glad I did. This song clearly expresses the struggles of battling temptations, addictions, and guilt. That's something that has been on my mind recently - chains, power, and confusion. Whenever I sense something is off in my life (or a friend's), you first start to see the effects of power. It becomes clear when someone makes choices outside of their nature that there's some other driving power. Then, you can see the chains. Addiction is a lot more common than people think. It's not just drugs, alcohol, pornography, etc. - it can be anyone or anything. It can start with the most innocent thing in the world. The problem then leads to the third stage when you suddenly become confused. Clarity, priorities, and identity get thrown out the window. While this may seem like I'm overreacting, I encourage you to take a look at this pattern. It's occurred in my life, and I've seen it happen to my loved ones as well. So maybe what you're doing isn't bad. In fact, maybe it's good. None of that matters if it starts to become too high of a priority. The good news is that no one is perfect and everyone has something they struggle with. The challenge mainly lies in ridding yourself of those issues, and often, you need the help of someone else to do that.
