Things have been a little off lately. I've been feeling a bit isolated, and I've been feeling a bit down. I tend to think that during times like this, the music I listen to plays a big part in the memories I associate with this specific point in life. I don't like isolation, and I don't like feeling trapped, but this music will probably remind me of this time. But for now, it serves a different purpose: to comfort me.
All of the music I'm sharing today is from the band 311. This band also happens to be my mom's favorite band (fun fact), so in some ways it makes me think of her too. Aside from that, I love the tone they provide and the fact that they have a wide variety in their songs.
For example, Amber is very different from Too Late, but they both mean a lot to me. They pull that off very well and that's something I appreciate. Sometimes people prefer that artists stick to what they're known for, but I respect musicians that are also willing to challenge themselves. That is only impressive, however, if they call pull it off.
That same thing applies to anyone. Yes, find your biggest strengths, but don't forget to try new things too. Just make sure you're doing your best at it.
