I can't stress enough the importance of making changes. We're meant to face challenges, try new things, and be explorers. But, we forget that sometimes we have to create those opportunities - they don't always come knocking on your door.
Ever since I wrote about how I'm going to improve both my writing and my photography, I've decided to keep making other changes. Being unschooled gave me the freedom to explore different topics and fall in love with learning. For that reason, starting new projects isn't difficult for me. Now that I've gotten a taste of living life this way, I know for sure I won't ever go back.
During this past week, I decided to learn a few new skills. I should point out that these skills are things I never thought I'd be interested in, because, you can't know everything. I always assumed that these things would be in the categories I wouldn't explore. Nevertheless, here I am, and I'm equally excited about these subjects as I was for artistic skills.
1. Facebook Advertisements.
Yeah, I never thought this would happen. Not because I thought I wasn't capable, just because I didn't see myself doing this. Praxis has an additional module all about learning to create and manage Facebook advertisements, so I figured why not? I blasted through the content, I soaked it all in, and now I'm excited to take that a step further and start advertising for businesses.
2. HTML and CSS.
If you asked me three weeks ago if I was interested in learning to code, I would have said I wasn't. Even three days ago I would've said the same thing. So why the sudden interest? Well, I'm not sure. I've just always been that way - full of surprises and not a fan of being bored. I've had multiple interests, and in my opinion, life is just better that way. I figured why not try something I've never done before? I have no idea what I'm doing, but I know that I'll figure it out.
I'm reading up on SEO to see how I can experiment with using that for my website. Personally, I don't care much about the traffic I get on this website. But, understanding SEO can be beneficial in the future - that's why I'm studying it.
I would encourage everyone to try things you never thought you would do. I think you'll find that perhaps you'll find them enjoyable, but learning alone is the greatest skill to have. Not just for personal gain, but for others too. There will be updates on all of these as I progress. Right now it just feels like I'm entering into a new world and seeing tech from the other side. That feeling is one of the most amazing feelings in the world.
