I’m back. As you can tell from my past two posts, I’ve been stuck in some kind of “rut” I suppose you could say. I can’t lay a finger on what exactly was wrong with me, however it was so bad that I even got physically sick. The good news is that I can feel myself coming back. My creativity is being restored, I can feel my energy being revived and my health is coming back to normal. I’m on my feet again. With that, I have some thoughts for what to do when you feel stuck. No matter how bad the situation, there's always a way out. Here’s the problem: the reason you feel stuck is because you’re strongest skills need a rest. If you’re creative, maybe you feel like you can’t be creative at the moment. If you’re positive, chances are your positivity has gone down. Whatever your natural virtues are, whatever your natural abilities are, they’re shut down temporarily. I would say that I’m more creative than I am positive. However, the past few days I chose to remain positive to my fullest capacity. It was difficult, it was even physically exhausting sometimes because how bad I felt, but it’s how I got out. Constantly reminding myself about the fact that I would be better in the near future was the only thing that kept me going. Look, I’m not here to tell you just to think happy and all of your problems will be solved. I don’t believe in that. I’m saying that if you’re stuck, something’s not working. Figure it out. Since part of my problem was that I wasn’t using my creativity, I needed to use something else. I happened to choose to positivity but perhaps you need to choose something else. If you’re stuck, figure it out. The best way to do that is to know what’s not working, then do something else. You will become stronger. If you’re not stuck in a rut, you will be someday. Everyone goes through times like this, we all get knocked down from time to time. It’s natural. I’m not going to lie, it’s going to feel like hell, but you need to figure it out. Imagine you’ve just woken up inside of a room and you’re trapped. To make matters worse, you’re also handcuffed. In any normal situation you would use your hands to climb out a window or search for a key but you don’t have that ability right now. You can’t use your hands, you’ll have to figure something else out. This is ultimately a challenge that I would claim maybe came from God but others would argue. Whatever you believe, think of this as a challenge and see how you can overcome it. Just know that in the end, you’ll strengthen your weaknesses. The battle continues even after you pick yourself back up. Sometimes we can be stuck for a long time, months or maybe years. If that’s the case, we can become used to it - it almost becomes a habit. We get comfy and cozy because it’s all that we know.
Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom. - George S. Pattson You bounced, but the process of going up isn’t always easy either. Maybe you’re not at the bottom anymore, but have you ever thought that working your way up is actually harder? It requires patience and endurance - so yes, the battle will continue. Be cautious.
