It seems like a weird time to look back on my year, but since I’m in a pivotal time in my life, I’ve been doing a bit of reminiscing. This past year has gone by very fast, actually a lot faster than I thought it would. It’s hard to believe we’re already almost done with September and heading into 2019 in just a few months. I turn 18 this year, so for a long time I imagined 2018 to look a certain way. However, I can honestly say that it’s been so much more than I expected.
There were some things that I thought I wanted by now. I thought I wanted to be a certain way, I thought I needed certain things in my life in order to be “what I wanted”. However, as I’ve been looking back and taking a look at where I am, I’ve learned my life looks a lot different than I thought it would. January - Applied for Praxis. February - Got accepted into Praxis. April - Started blogging./Discovered Colorado. May - Began Praxis./Graduated High School. June - Went to Atlanta for my first time at FEEcon. July - First real music gig./Started my YouTube channel. August - Reached 100 days of daily blogging. September - Got my driver's permit./Began placement process with Praxis. My 15 year-old-self thought I would be happy at 17-18 if I was recording albums with a band. I also wanted to look different, have more friends, and be “accepted” (whatever that meant). Now, my views are totally different. I made choices to further my career, I saw a little more of the world, and I’ve met lots of great people along the way. Now I know that joy doesn’t come from material things. I learned that it comes in a process, and sometimes that process is scary, but it’s much better when you have true friends by your side. All of that to say it’s been an eventful year, I’ve grown a lot, and I can’t wait to see how things turn out in these next few months.
