I begin every morning at 6:45. This is an early time for someone who’s definitely a night owl, but I like to get an early start on my day. Since mornings aren’t the easiest for me, it takes more time to get ready for the day. I spend the first 15 minutes in bed and I listen to two or three songs to get me pumped and ready to get going. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been listening to West Coast Rock Steady by P.O.D., Nino Brown by Canon, and I Ain't Done by Andy Mineo to wake me up. By 7:00 I’m up and making breakfast which is usually oolong tea, eggs and greek yogurt. I’ve learned the hard way that if I don’t have a healthy breakfast in the morning, I can’t function properly for the rest of the day. While I’m eating breakfast I check my emails, text messages, and notifications. After that, I shower, get dressed, and put my makeup on. Next I pick up my room and get everything organized for the rest of the day. (I use Trello and organize my tasks for the day.) By now it’s usually 8:30 (a.k.a go time.) Once I’ve prioritized everything that needs to be done, I work until lunch and I make sure to keep my email tabs open. I listen to my "FOCUS" playlist on Spotify to limit the distractions around me. (I live with my three little siblings - they make a lot of noise.) Sometimes if that playlist isn’t working for me, I shuffle anything by Ludovico Einaudi. If I’m having a hard time staying awake I need to blast something heavy like System of a Down or Korn.
I eat lunch whenever I get hungry which is usually sometime between 11:30 - 12:00. I’ve been a part of the THM trend for a while now so I usually eat a carb (E) meal for lunch and it keeps me energized for the afternoon. I don’t like to spend too much time at lunch unless I’m going out to meet a friend so sometimes I’ll even eat while I work. I work until I finish everything that needs to get done, which can vary with each day. If I have to scorekeep, I usually finish working around 5:00 to get to my shift at 5:30. My scorekeeping shifts usually end at 9:30 and then I go back home to work until 10:00 or 11:00. Since I’m a night owl, after a long day of working I like to “reward” myself with an episode or two of Netflix before bed. (Right now I’m still trying to get through Gilmore Girls.) That’s a typical day of mine, busy but enjoyable. However, there are two main things that I would like to set specific time aside for: exercise, and research. I want to find a way to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, whether it be walking, riding my bike, or being active with sports. Just something to allow me to get fresh air which I think is essential for focus in my work. I would also like to set aside 30 minutes to an hour for research. I want to be able to research a different topic everyday and put together interesting content to write about.
