I'm not sure how old I was when I decided to create my memory box, but I know I was young, and I'm very glad I did it. I remember when I first started putting things in there, I was so excited about my box that I put things in it that really don't matter to me anymore. But, looking back, I'm glad I put them in there anyway. Yesterday, I decided to clean out my entire room like a mad woman. (Remember how I mentioned the first step to getting out of a funk is to “detox”? Yeah, I had to do that again.) It helped me get back on track, and in the midst of it, I found my memory box!
I ended up finding some other things while I was going through my stuff that should go in there as well. But, the truth is, that memory box helped me a lot. It helped me remember to only think of the good memories. The future remains unknown, but the good memories can be with you forever. I found some letters, cards, and notes from friends who aren't really around anymore, and it helped me relive those moments. I miss so many people, but they have made an impact in my life and that can never go away. That's why I love that box, because there's so much joy in there that I can cherish forever. It's really an opportunity in a box just waiting for you to open up and remember all of the good. I'm going to continue to add to this box, because even though the future is unknown, someday I will want to keep it forever. There will be moments that I will want to cherish forever.
