Love is not a feeling, it's a choice.
It's not an emotion, it's a decision.
And just like with any decision, there needs to be reasons to back it up.
Love is the same way. In order for there to be love, there needs to be a firm foundation set in place. Because the truth is, you can fall in love with anyone you want. You can be in love with anybody on the planet. Why? Because love is your own decision.
So, the key then is getting them to love you back. That's where, I believe, trust comes into play. Before you can love someone, you first have to know that you can trust them with your love. It's pretty simple, but becoming that trustworthy person can sometimes be a challenge. Or, on the flip-side, finding a trustworthy person can also be difficult.
That is why I wouldn't ever be in a relationship with someone based purely on like-ability. Some people are great to laugh with, have fun with, etc. But that doesn't mean they're worthy of your love. Anyone who has a healthy understanding of both love and trust is someone you want to be with for the rest of your life. It's hard to admit this, but you won't always feel as though you love your partner. So in those moments, you have to make your choice. But, first you have to know whether or not they're trustworthy at all.
