I'm on my way home from band practice, and I find out that the power is out at my house. Not only that, but my Dad was working on the outside of the house and was almost severely injured. (Actually, we're thankful he's alive.) So now that the power is out, there's a silence in the air that is both pleasant, yet somehow mysterious. Whenever the power goes out, or some similar situation occurs, we become hit with the fact that our lives depend on these things. It's like we rely on certain things to keep our lives in forward motion. But, sitting here in silence and having that taken away is in some sense freeing.
In other words, it's good to learn to live in the moment. Sometimes I find myself living in the future too much. It's okay to also be still, and allow yourself to feel that freedom.
