Learning To Let Go

Don’t justify holding onto the past by calling it preparation for the future. Let go, pick yourself up, and move forward. But don’t let this trick you into believing that dreaming about the future is bad. That’s not true, dreaming about the future is good because it keeps you motivated. Those who say otherwise may be speaking from a place of let regret or disappointment - but, you see, they’re holding onto the past. Run to the future, but don’t bring the expectations caused by pain in the past.
Everything will be fine so you can expect them to be. But don’t expect everything to happen the way you envision it, and don’t try to use the past to control what you think will happen. Instead, learn from the past, and be open to alternative down the road.

This is something I’m learning the hard way. The main example in my life is learning to let go of people - something that doesn’t come naturally. There’s always the hope that those I’ve loved in the past will re-enter my life, but if they do, I want it to happen naturally. I don’t want to force something to happen just because I’ve been gripping onto the past. I figure, if I run to the dreams I want to accomplish, I’ll meet them there if they want to.
