I can’t say this enough: set yourself apart. The beauty is that you’re naturally unique at the core, the difficulty lies in bringing it out. Society doesn’t treat uniqueness well because it doesn’t know what it is. The moment you voice your difference to the world you’re forcing everyone to look at you. But society doesn’t know what to do with “special”, so society is offended when you do it.
One of society’s best tricks is praising you for being different, even if you didn’t bring it out of your core. It’s really more of a fib than a lie because it’s true that everyone’s different, but not everyone’s brave enough to bring it out, let it grow, and show the world.
We as human would rather get the prize without working for it. I don’t blame you, it’s easy. But just because people tell you you’re different doesn’t mean you can’t still strengthen your uniqueness. You can take the “special” in your core, plant it in your heart, and watch it grow. But there’s no incentive for that if society hands you the fruit.
Self-love is a growing trend. I don’t entirely disagree, but trends should always be approached with caution - there’s usually a catch. Don’t give away your potential for temporary fulfillment.
