Have you ever stopped to think about how significant the sky really is? Alright, I’m a little cheesy. Or maybe I’m just easily pleased… no I’m definitely cheesy. But whatever. It doesn’t matter. The sky is awesome and after reading this you’ll understand why I’ve been obsessed with it since I was a kid. 1 - It Changes ColorBlack, blue, pink, orange, purple. Does that blow anyone else’s mind or is it just me? I think we take this for granted. For whatever reason we’re okay with spending $150 to watch the color show at Disneyland, but the sky does amazing things 24/7 and we only care at the observatory. (Which we usually spend our money at too.) Go figure. 2 - The SunIt’s a giant ball of fire. Your life revolves around a giant ball of fire that floats around in space. Think about it this way: your life is a combination of days and nights - both come from this floating giant ball of fire. Now who’s insignificant? Yeah, it’s you buddy. (Me too.) The sun tells you which way to go, it tells you what time it is, and basically controls your life. But no one cares because we can adjust to pretty much anything. 3 - Literally Everything Else In SpaceWe don’t even know what’s out there, and quite honestly I find that humbling. The sky’s a mystery, but we still have a general way of describing it. (Scary, huge, beautiful, etc.) Scientists have come a long way with their discoveries, but there’s still so much we don’t know.
The sky, to me, is the most underappreciated aspect of our world. It’s everything to us, but we don’t give it the attention it deserves. It’s like the sky is doing it’s best to protect us from the crazy dangers of outer space, but all we do is care about the time and to-do lists. I know it’s strange to speak about the sky as if it has a mind of its own. I just think if we looked up a little more, we’d remember there’s a lot to appreciate in life.
